Paschatakarma: Post treatment management

In this part, a restricted dietary regimen along with proper exercise is advised according to each individual’s constitution and nature of panchakarma treatment undergone. The dietary schedule has to be observed for the same period of time after treatment as the period of therapy itself i.e, if panchakarma treatment lasts for one week then the dietary regimen should also be followed for one week. The main objective of such regimen is to intensify the ‘agni’ or digestive fire of every dhatu at the same time to do ama pachana of left over ama (food toxins).
In Vamana treatment, Dhoomapana or inhalation of herbal smoke is given so as to eliminate left over kapha after Vamana.
